snapEdge

snapEdge does not work wonders, it sometimes works and sometimes not.

What it does is that it finds the features on STL surfaces and maps the selected patches to those lines/edges.

Download from here: http://openfoam.nequam.se/cases/snapEdge_110225.tgz (25 Feb 2011)

(Old algortithm http://openfoam.nequam.se/cases/snapEdge.tgz (update: 21 sept 2010).)

21 Sept 2010: Added the overwrite option and snapZones entry from Bernhard Gschaider

How does it work?

To install it, unpack it anywhere with 'tar zxfv snapEdge.tgz'. Go to the snapEdge directory and run wmake.

There is a snapEdgeDict example in there as well.

Here are a few examples.

This shows the inlet patch of a pipe before and after using snapEdge.

left: inlet patch after snappyHexMesh, right: inlet patch after snapEdge

And another example of a tet.

The rear part of an Ahmed body

Something I dont know what it is supposed to be.

left: inlet patch after snappyHexMesh, right: inlet patch after snapEdgeleft: inlet patch after snappyHexMesh, right: inlet patch after snapEdge

and somethings else I dont know what it is either

left: inlet patch after snappyHexMesh, right: inlet patch after snapEdge

I highly recommend running checkMesh after running snapEdge.
