1 Introduction

This page is dedicated to explaining how to install the foam-extend project OF Version 30ext.png in Debian. This instructions page might send you to the one for Ubuntu basically due to the close similarity between Ubuntu and Debian, since Ubuntu derives from Debian.

If you do not yet feel comfortable using Linux, then perhaps you better first read the page Working with the Shell and train a bit with the shell/terminal environments, so you can have a better perception of the steps shown below.

2 Copy-Paste steps

A few notes before you start copy-pasting:

  1. Lines that start with # don't have to be copy-pasted. They are just comments to let you know what's going on.
  2. One wrong character is enough for breaking this guide, so make sure you can read the characters properly or that the installed language system does not break the copied characters!

2.1 Debian 6.0 (aka Squeeze)

Since Debian Wheezy is at the time of this writing (12:43, 7 July 2013 (CEST)) very similar to Ubuntu 10.04, you can try following the instructions meant for this particular Ubuntu version: Installation/Linux/foam-extend-3.0/Ubuntu#Ubuntu_10.04

2.2 Debian Wheezy

Since Debian Wheezy is at the time of this writing (17:34, 27 October 2012 (CEST)) very similar to Ubuntu 12.10, you can try following the instructions meant for this particular Ubuntu version: Installation/Linux/foam-extend-3.0/Ubuntu#Ubuntu_12.10

2.3 Debian Sid

Debian Sid is at the time of this writing (12:43, 7 July 2013 (CEST)) very similar to Ubuntu 13.10, which has not yet been released. You can try following the instructions meant for Ubuntu version 12.10, but it's very likely that it will fail: Installation/Linux/foam-extend-3.0/Ubuntu#Ubuntu_12.10
