Given a flow domain, modelled as a continuous medium throughout which a set of non-linear set of equations relate various fluid dynamic quantities. Discretization is the process of subdividing this continuous domain into discrete segments, and linearizing these equations. The resulting equations are finite and linear, solutions to which can be achieved numerically. There are several discretization methods, including:
