3 Usage of OpenFOAM

  • Cross-compiling OpenFOAM with MinGW and Mingw-w64.
  • blueAIR is the current in-house product being developed at blueCAPE. blueAIR uses OpenFOAM in Windows for CFD simulations. For more information, see the Projects section.

4 Projects

  • blueFIRE :: state-of-the-art real-time fire propagation simulator, designed to assist Civil Protection Forces in forest-fire fighting. Includes a Wind diagnosis capability. Its modular design and API allow an easy integration with GIS, fire detection and risk analysis software.
  • Cross-Compiling OpenFOAM for Windows 32 and 64bits, used in the blueCAPE's product/service blueCFD.
    • blueCFD-SingleCore is a subset of blueCFD, providing the modified source code in Git repositories as well as binaries for Windows. Aims to help newcomers start using OpenFOAM on Windows, although it doesn't have all of the amenities that blueCFD provides.
  • gbXML2STL :: extracts the building geometry from gbXML, processes it and returns one or more geometry STL files, depending on the command line options. Planning on making a tutorial on how to use it to run simulations with OpenFOAM.
  • blueAIR :: the parent project of gbXML2STL, that aims to provide AEC Engineers and Architects with a powerful, accurate and easy to use CFD development environment for Built environments, based in BIM/CAD models. Currently the CFD engine used is OpenFOAM.

5.1 List of pages I have yet to finish writing

Note to readers: Please, feel free to edit and finish these pages if you have the time and the knowledge to do so!

  1. Installation/Linux/OpenFOAM-2.1.1
  2. Installation/Linux/OpenFOAM-2.1.x
  3. Installation/Working_with_the_Shell
    • Mental note: display a copy of the lower half of ".bashrc", to make it visible to users how it should look.

Reference forum pages, referring to some of these pages: Discussion: Restructuring the Installation page at openfoamwiki.net

5.2 List of pages planned

  1. Installation/Linux/OpenFOAM-2.2.x
  2. Add to the FAQ:
    • How to provide a test case for the forum.
    • How to find dictionary files.
    • Copy-paste-improve Help_talk:Editing onto [[1]].
    • To compile the information I've written on the topic of ParaView/paraFoam.
  3. On how to make sure flags defined for custom boundary conditions get processed: [2]
  4. Suggestion by Far, on CFX vs OpenFOAM: [3]
    • Gotta find if there is already a page for this.
  5. Create the page for multiphaseEulerFoam and add this valuable information: [4]
  6. Create an HowTo page for this: [5]
  7. To move/rename the page Howto_compile_OpenFOAM to the old section on Installation, namely Category:Installing_OpenFOAM_-_Outdated_Instructions.
  8. To move/rename the installation pages for Mac OS X onto the dedicated section Installation/Mac OS
  9. To move/rename and adjust the installation pages for Windows onto the dedicated section Installation/Windows
  10. Create the dedicated section for Function Objects and move the following pages to there:
  11. Copy-paste-adapt the stuff I got on my blog, since it should be better here at the wiki for future generations.
