   • You benefit from very large investment made by many others over many years
   • Lowers barrier to entry, but users should still feel an obligation to contribute where they can
   • In-built parallelisation in contrast to pay-per-cpu licenses for black boxes
2. Powerful
   • OpenFOAM is primarily a software toolbox for building new multi-physics simulations
   • Much of this power derives from C++
   • Access to the source code a key strength
3. Lifelong tool
   • No more "We should buy this $20k package" arguments with employers/bosses
   • OpenFOAM will only grow and improve
   • OpenFOAM is the first and the best (by a long way) and will become the standard
4. Teaching tool
   • C++ is not trivial to learn
   • But OpenFOAM will be a lifelong tool, so the investment worth it
   • Platform for better understanding fluid dynamics equations
   • Black boxes damage our understanding of the physics - OpenFOAM is a perspex box!
5. Faster Innovation
   • For the first time, the worldwide community of CFD researchers and practitioners will be able to pull in the same direction!
   • Over long term should lead to faster development of algorithms, applications and more capable simulation
