I am a master's student in computational mechanics and I have been using OpenFOAM to write my master's thesis which is on the simulation of fluid flow through a diamond core bit. I was introduced to CFD around 4 years ago when I was trying to find the best airfoil for a vertical axis wind turbine. Since then I have developed 2 Navier-Stokes solvers (C++ and MATLAB), simulated a fluid-structure interaction of a boat slamming into water as a freelancer, and currently my thesis.
