I am a graduate student at the University of New Hampshire. I am currently using OpenFOAM to simulate flow through a cross-flow (or vertical-axis) turbine using pimpleDyMFoam. I am interested in the accuracy of RANS models versus simpler vortex models commonly used to predict performance and wake properties for these turbines.
