1 Introduction

This page aims to explain how to install OpenFOAM on any Linux Distribution.

In the following chapters and sections is explained how to generally install OpenFOAM 1.5.x and related dependencies, such as ParaView:

2 Installing from source code

The official instructions are no longer available online. Nonetheless all files are still available on OpenFOAM's project at SourceForge.Net and the git repository can be retrieved with one of the following commands:

Via Git protocol:

git clone git://repo.or.cz/OpenFOAM-1.5.x.git

Via HTTP protocol (useful when working behind firewalls):
```
git clone http://repo.or.cz/r/OpenFOAM-1.5.x.git
```

Note: Do not confuse this version with the Extend variant 1.5-dev.
