1 EMail confirmation required for Editing
Adding a Captcha to the editing dialog didn't solve the spam problem. As an additional measure it is now required that a user has a confirmed EMail-address to allow editing of pages. If your EMail is not yet confirmed the Wiki you will be asked o do so before further editing. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Should you experience problems (no mails arriving etc) please contact me through the Message Board (preferably this thread)

2 Added captcha to edit dialog
In the past few days a lot of spam-messages were added to the Wiki and had to be removed. To make things more difficult you will be asked a simple arithmetic question when editing/creating a page. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Should you experience any problems, please contact me
Update: It seems like the spam-bots can do arithmetic. I changed the captchas to some simple questions about OpenFOAM. Hint: all the answers are single letters. It should be easy enough to figure out which ones.
As a side-effect it is required that you enter a valid summary for your edit

5 WikiNews Installed MathJax extension
Installed an extension that uses MathJax (a JavaScript-Library) to render formulas enclosed in math-tags .
As described on the page of the extension this also adds the possibility to add references to the formulas.
Thanks to Oliver Borm for the suggestion.
As this library uses the same tags as the old mechanism for rendering math no changes to existing pages are required. Should you experience problems with existing formulas that seem to be due to the change please contact me
Update: Disabled the extension because of the problem described here (having environment variables like $HOME in the text breaks the rendering). Hints how to solve this problem are welcome. Once a fix to the problem is known the extension will be reenabled.
